PRAISE FOR LITTLE JADE
Katherine Haas has a gift for storytelling. Her honest, charming voice comes through in her memoir Little Jade, which tells her story as a Chinese-German girl who immigrated to mid-century America. Though she faced many challenges, from the relatable struggles of coming of age to her infuriating experiences of racism, Haas handles it all with grace and hope that makes this memoir so inspiring. While young Katherine felt different throughout her life because of her ethnicity, her story — that of a girl navigating a new world and ultimately finding happiness— is instantly relatable and makes her a heroine any reader wants to root for. ~ AL, on Goodreads

What a great read! I have so much enjoyed learning about my longtime friend. Action packed events of a young life….I am sure it was not easy to write some of those things, yet they are done in a typical Katherine Haas voice that lets me hear you talking to me as I read them. I read the difficulties between the lines as well….Times Best Seller List here we come. ~ Mark Erickson

I SO enjoyed Little Jade. You did a masterful job of narrating your story - it felt so direct and honest; you didn't hesitate to include incidents that hurt at the time as well as so many rewarding ones, but everything was brought to life vividly. I think the book cover is a beauty. ~ Diana Cartier

How delighted I was to read your wonderful book! Your courage, your perseverance, your amazing ability to reinvent yourself at every turn, your incredible multi-faceted talents — all just leap out from the page in this amazing document. Bravo my friend! Of course it all has so much poignancy for me through our personal connections, our family bonds, our mutual history so long ago and yet so very deep. ~ AKB

As a reader, and as someone who loves children's books, I couldn't help but notice the moments in your book that would be particularly touching or revealing to a child reading them as they either imagine what it must have been like for you, or as that moment relates to their own experiences living in a totally new culture. The milk bottle with its creamy top (+ its magical powers on growth) is an example: in one simple image, you take the reader to another place and a different time. Every passage that shows a source of your disorientation evokes an illustration in the reader's mind. ~ Catherine Fasbender

I cant stop reading your memoir! ~ Patty Fisher
